A binational water trust to restore the Colorado River.

WHO WE ARE

Restauremos El Colorado is the first binational water trust created for the purpose of bringing the Colorado River back to life and restoring its critically-endangered wetland areas.

We do this by securing water rights in order to deliver instream flows to the delta and lead wetland restoration projects. But we need your help! After 20 years of drought and increased demand for water from both the U.S. and Mexico, sustaining flows for the Colorado River ecosystem is a challenge.

Today this iconic binational river, which carved the Grand Canyon, is mostly a dry riverbed once it reaches Mexico.

We are seeking $1.5 million to restore 10 river miles!

Since 2012, Restauremos has delivered 50,000 AF (acre-feet) to the Colorado River delta. In the long-term, the sustainability of river flows will come from securing permanent water rights.

For now, Restauremos can deliver 8,000 AF (acre feet) of water for wetland restoration projects and instream flows every year in perpetuity. But we need to do more.

With $1.5 million dollars Restauremos can secure an additional 1,000 AF in permanent water rights to ensure that 10 miles of river will have instream flows for 60+ days every year, in perpetuity.
